本文是讨论黑格尔哲学中的一个问题：苦恼意识及其出路。这个问题不仅仅是黑格尔哲学中的一个问题，也是我们今天所同样要面临的问题，所以，本文的目的不仅仅在于阐明黑格尔哲学的一个观点，也要将黑格尔哲学中的这一问题与现实联系起来，揭示出其现实意义。
第一章并没有直接地提出苦恼意识这个问题，而是讨论了“精神”与“伦理生活”这两个概念，并探讨了两者的关系。之所以这样做，是因为本文认为苦恼意识的问题所在及其解决都涉及到精神与伦理生活的内在联系。首先讨论的是“精神”，指出精神的本质是绝对对立的统一，是真正的自我意识。然后讨论了“伦理生活”，指出伦理生活的目的在于实现精神。
第二章提出本文所要讨论的问题。在这一章，分析了什么是苦恼意识，并指出现代社会中存在着苦恼意识，它表现为功利意识和道德意识，前者以有限性为其本质，后者以无限性为其本质，但由于知性的思维方式将有限与无限分立起来，所以两者都沦为苦恼意识。同时，还分析了这两种苦恼意识对伦理生活的态度，前者将伦理生活的目的遮蔽起来，把伦理生活等同于市民社会，后者把则是逃避伦理生活，把伦理生活沦为“游行”或宗教小团体。最后，指出苦恼意识的苦恼是无法掩盖的，以奥斯维辛为例，说明人们最终还是不得不直面“苦恼”。
第三者讨论了希腊的伦理生活方式以及希腊的精神特征。但通过本章的论证，可以看出希腊的伦理生活方式的前提是，“自我意识”或主体性尚未出现。在这样的前提下，希腊的伦理生活确实与希腊人的个体生命相契，希腊因此而成为精神的诞生之地。但是，苦恼意识是自我崛起之后出现的问题，我们既不可能恢复希腊的伦理生活方式，而希腊的精神也不能满足苦恼意识的需要。
第四章讨论了基督教所提出的伦理生活原则其及蕴含的精神。自我意识出现后，人与人的对立达到了绝对的程度，伦理生活受到了极大的破坏，要重建伦理生活，不能通过相互批评指责的方式进行，而只能通过相互间的宽恕与真诚的忏悔。基督教并不仅仅将宽恕与忏悔看为伦理生活的原则，而且视之为自我意识的真正实现。最后，本文认为，宽恕与忏悔具有一种超越性质，其本质是信仰与敬拜。本文的结论是，基督教为苦恼意识提供了一条出路。
Abstract
The problem of unhappy consciousness is one of the important themes in Hegel’s Philosophy. It is of great importance not only in Hegel’s Philosophy, but also in contemporary times. Therefore, the purpose of the paper is to discuss the problem of unhappy consciousness from the point of view of Hegel, trying to find out what solution Hegel provide, and what inspiration his solution offer.
In the first chapter, we discuss what is Spirit and what is ethic life in Hegel’s philosophy. The reason for discussing these two notions at the beginning of the paper is that the problem of unhappy consciousness is so closely related to these two notions that we can’t begin the argument without explaining these we notions at first. Spirit is the unity of absolute contradictions, and the purpose of ethic life is the realization of Spirit.
In the second chapter, we bring up the problem of unhappy consciousness, and argue that modern philosophy is the expression of the unhappy consciousness. There are two kinds of modern unhappy consciousness. One is utilitarian consciousness, which regards finity as its essence, and the other is moral consciousness, which regards the infinity as its essence. There is absolute cleavage between finity and infinity because the understanding can’t unite these two elements. Thus both utilitarian consciousness and moral consciousness are unhappy consciousness. The utilitarian consciousness believes that the civil society is the ultimate mode of ethic life, while the moral consciousness takes ethic life as something like parade or religious groups. Although the unhappy consciousness pretends to be happy, its suffering is doomed to be betrayed.
